Myers Leads Reddies to 11-1 Win Over Southern Nazarene

Joe Myers belted out three hits with a double and three runs batted in to lead Henderson State to an 11-1 over Southern Nazarene in Great American Conference baseball action at Clyde Berry Field in Arkadelphia on Friday.

Henderson State, 6-2 on the season and 1-0 in the GAC, jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first-inning as the Reddies put together three hits off of SNU starting pitcher Austin Cooper.

Alan Hall led off the game with a walk, stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error by the Crimson Storm catcher.

Jordan Taylor scored Hall on an infield single, followed by Hayden Lessenberry being by a pitch. Colton Coffman singled to load the bases and set stage for Myers. Myers drove a double to the left-center field power alley to score two runs. Coffman then scored on a wild pitch for the final run of the inning.

Southern Nazarene, 0-9 and 0-1, got a run in the sixth-inning on a RBI double by Mike Descisciolo. With runners on second and third with one out, Reddie starting pitcher Luke Tebbetts managed to get the next two Storm hitters to ground out to end the inning.

The Reddies responded with three runs in the bottom of the seventh-inning as Parker Jones and Coffman each doubled, while Myers collected his third hit of the game driving in his third run.

Henderson went on to score four more runs in the eighth-inning to put the 10-run rule into effect.

After the Reddies already manufactured a pair of runs in the inning, Dylan McCain ended the game with a two-run single which plated Lessenberry who walked and Coffman who reached on an error.

Tebbetts pitched 6 innings and struck out seven batters while allowing four hits to get the win and improve to 2-0 on the year.

Jay Hawley pitched the seventh-inning allowing one hit, while Logan DeRosier pitched the eighth-inning striking out three batters.

The two teams will conclude the three-game series with a double-header set for noon at Clyde Berry Field.
