Reddies to Face No. 17 Arkansas-Monticello

Henderson State will take on the top team in the Great American Conference on Thursday as the Reddies hit the road to face 17th-ranked Arkansas-Monticello with tipoff at the Steelman Fieldhouse set for 7:30 p.m.         
 
Henderson enters the contest with a 13-8 record overall and an 8-7 league record following Saturday's 76-66 loss to East Central. The Reddies are tied for sixth in the league standings.
 
Ben Marello has scored double-figures in the last six games and is currently averaging 10.7 points per game. The sophomore from Port Orange, Fla. did not play in the first game against UAM due to injury.
 
Kaylon Tappin still leads the Reddies in scoring averaging 15.0 points. Tappin has scored in double-figures in 15 games including totaling 20 or more points in seven games. The junior from Little Rock scored 18 points which included 8-of-8 from the foul line in the first meeting against UAM.
 
Kevin Kozan scored 18 points on Saturday against ECU and is averaging 10.4 points per game. The senior from New Lenox, Ill. will be making his 100th career start as a Reddie.           
           
Arkansas-Monticello has already clinched a spot in the GAC Tournament as the Weevils are 17-2 overall and 13-2 in league play.
           
The Weevils are second in the GAC offensively averaging 86.9 points per game while having a scoring margin of +13.3 points.    

UAM is the top shooting team in the league at 50 percent from the field including 32 percent from the perimeter.           

Derylton Hill ranks third in the GAC in scoring averaging 18.3 points per game and ranks sixth in rebounds at 7.5 boards. The junior transfer from Wallace State CC has scored in double-figures in 15 of 19 games including scoring 20 or more points nine times. Hill scored 15 points in the first game against Henderson.
           
Cobe Goosby also ranks in the top 10 in scoring in the GAC averaging 15.5 points. The junior transfer from Gulf Coast State College is tied for third in the league in assists with 5.3 dishes. Goosby has reached double-figure in 18 of 19 games including the last 11 games. Earlier against the Reddies he scored 21 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field.
           
Henderson State leads the all-time series having a 94-62 advantage over UAM is a series which began in 1931. UAM won earlier this year in Arkadelphia, 74-57, but the Reddies have won four of the last six meetings. HSU has a 6-5 advantage since the two teams joined the GAC.

Thursday's double-header will be carried on 106.9 FM KYXK Arkadelphia/Gurdon with Hunter Lively and Grady Bean calling the action.
 
The Domino's pregame show will air 5:15 p.m. with the women's game set for 5:30 p.m.
