Henderson swept by No. 19 Harding

SEARCY, Ark. - Henderson State could not avoid a sweep on Saturday afternoon, as No. 19 Harding defeated the Reddies 12-1 and 3-0 to take all four games of the series.

Game One:
Henderson threatened early in the top of the first inning, when Alexis Morton singled and Keirsten Seahorn and Kaitlyn Felder both walked to load the bases with two outs, but Harding pitcher Hannah Johnson got Selena Mendoza to strikeout and the Reddies stranded three baserunners.

The Reddies broke through in the 2nd, as Ashleigh Erb reached on a throwing error from the pitcher Johnson, advanced to second and was then brought home by a single from Alyssa Dixon down the right field line to make it 1-0 Henderson.

Harding answered quickly with three runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 3-1 lead, and then exploded for eight more runs in the 3rd to open up an 11-1 advantage. Henderson never got another hit in the game, as the Lady Bisons tacked on an insurance run and closed it out 12-1 in five innings.

Game Two:
Harding got going early with three runs in the bottom of the 2nd to grab a 3-0 lead. Henderson attempted to rally in the 6th, when Shayla Wright singled to give the Reddies their second base runner of the day, but she was picked off at first for the third out of the inning, ending the Henderson threat. The Reddies' offense was limited to just two hits and two base runners on the day in a 3-0 defeat.

Henderson's next games are on Friday at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. in a double-header against Arkansas Tech at Dee White Field in Arkadelphia.
