GAME ONE:
Arkansas-Monticello shut down Henderson State at the plate to take a 3-0 win in the third game of the Great American Conference series on Saturday.
The Blossoms struck quickly with two runs in the bottom of the first on an error and a grounder that scored one from third, to make it 2-0.
Henderson threatened in the third, when
Rebekah Teel doubled and
Alyssa Dixon walked to give the Reddies two baserunners, but a fly out ended the inning with no damage done for UAM.
UAM took advantage in the bottom half of the inning, scoring another run to make it 3-0. The Reddies tried to rally but could not get the bats going, and fell 3-0, giving the Blossoms the series victory.
The Reddies were held to just one hit and two base runners on the afternoon.
GAME TWO:
Henderson State had five hits, but could not score its base runners, as UAM used timely hitting to defeat the Reddies 4-0 and sweep the weekend series.
Henderson had an opportunity in the first inning, when
Alyssa Dixon and
Alexis Morton both singled to give the Reddies two base runners with one out, but UAM go the next two batters to line out and groundout to end the threat.
The Blossoms got on the board first with a solo homerun by McKenzie Rice in the third to make it 1-0, and then plated another on a HBP with the bases loaded to extend it to 2-0.
In the sixth, UAM pushed the lead out even more on a double by Brittany Gentry which scored two to make it 4-0. Down to their final three outs, the Reddies could not find the magic at the plate, as the Blossoms closed it out 4-0 to sweep the series.
The Reddies had five hits in the game, but had a runner in scoring position just once, in the first inning.

Michelle Sorensen, Dixon and Morton each had a hit for Henderson.
The losses drop HSU to 16-20 on the year and 10-14 in GAC play. The Reddies will travel across the street on Tuesday for a double-header with Ouachita Baptist beginning at 4 p.m.
