Henderson State will make its final trip of the regular-season to Oklahoma as the Reddies take on Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday in Shawnee, Okla. before battling first-place Southern Nazarene on Saturday in Bethany.
The Reddies have won three straight GAC contests, improving to 11-8 overall and 6-7 in league play. Henderson is tied for eighth in the league standings, but are just two games out of second.
During the three-game winning streak, Henderson averages 80.0 points per game while the Reddie defense has surrendered just 69 points per contest.
Kaylon Tappin, who leads the GAC in scoring averaging 19.2 points per game, has scored 20 or more points 11 times this season including 32 points in the first game earlier this year against Oklahoma Baptist.
Chris Parker has averaged 15.0 points in the last three games and is shooting 50 percent from the field. The freshman from Plano, Texas averages 13.3 points this season and has posted double-figures 14 times including the last seven games.
Josh Jones is second on the team in scoring at 14.5 points per game. The junior from Memphis leads the team in 3-point shooting, knocking down 36-of-85 shots from beyond the arc for 42.4 percent. Jones scored 15 points in the first game against the Bison.
Oklahoma Baptist enters the contest with an 8-11 record overall and a 5-8 mark in GAC play. The Bison average 77.7 points per game offensively while allowing 81.3 points.
Chandler Rickey leads the team and ranks third in the GAC in scoring averaging 18.9 points per game. Rickey also leads OBU in rebounding at 6.8 boards per contest, while having a GAC-best 53 blocked shots. The senior from Broken Bow, Okla. has scored in double-figures in all but one game including 25 points and 9 rebounds in the first game against HSU.
Travon Moore averages 12.1 points per game and has scored in double-figures in eight of the last nine games.
Vladimir Nemcok is scoring 9.7 points per game while averaging 6.3 assists per game which leads the league. Nemcok scored 18 points and had 8 assists back in December against Henderson.
OBU leads the all-time series against Henderson having a 6-5 advantage in a series that began in 1967. The Reddies have won three of the last four meetings. The Bison recorded an 81-79 overtime victory earlier the year in Arkadelphia snapping Henderson's three-game winning streak against OBU.
