SET ONE
The Reddies were forced to play catch-up from the start of the match as they fell behind 4-2 in the early stages of the first set. The Bulldogs soon extended their lead to a score of 10-5. The Reddies made a short 4-1 run to make the score 11-9, but SWOSU responded with a 6-2 run to grab their largest lead of the set, 17-11. HSU made a late push by way of a 5-1 run, which was highlighted by a kill from Ondruskova, to cut the deficit down to 22-19. However, SWOSU responded again and pushed the Reddies to set point before a kill by Allie Hoang gave the Bulldogs a one-set lead, 25-22.Â
SET TWO
Henderson State won four of the first six points of the second set and had an early 7-5 lead. However, SWOSU pulled in front after a 5-1 run gave the Bulldogs a 10-8 advantage. The Reddies tied the set at 11-11, but a quick 3-0 spurt from Southwestern extended the lead to three, 14-11. The Reddies continued to play catch-up and pulled within one, 17-16, but SWOSU took control for the rest of the set, ending the frame on an 8-1 run to take a commanding lead in the match with a 25-17 second set win.Â
SET THREE
Henderson quickly fell into a 4-1 third set hole. Slowly but surely, the Bulldogs extended that lead out to 15-9. The Reddies were able to cut the deficit in half after a 4-1 run made it 16-13 SWOSU, but the Reddies were unable to put serious pressure on the visitors, as the deficit quickly ballooned to four, 21-17. Henderson threw one more punch after a powerful kill from Bolf, but SWOSU scored the last three points to win the set 25-19, and the match, 3-0.
