ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Following an easy victory at Jarvis Christian College, the Reddies return home to the Duke Wells Center for a marquee rematch with the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Henderson State (21-4, 9-2) defeated ATU 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-18) in the first meeting of the season in Russellville, Arkansas, and will look to sweep the Golden Suns for the first time since the formation of the GAC.Â
HSU is currently tied for second place in the GAC standings with Southwestern Oklahoma State. Harding leads the conference with a 10-1 record. Henderson State is one of three teams that have clinched a berth to the 2018 GAC Volleyball Championships.Â
The Reddies previous victory against Arkansas Tech came on Sept. 18. The win moved HSU to 14-2 and 3-0 in the GAC. The Reddies were led by Zuzana Ondruskova, who tallied 13 kills and 12 digs, picking up her fourth double-double of the season. Abby Blackburn also collected a double-double with 15 assists and 10 digs. Karlie Greene had an impressive showing as well, notching six kills with a .462 attacking percentage.Â
Scouting Arkansas Tech
Compared to its 35-1 finish last season, ATU had a very slow start to the GAC season, losing two of its first four contests. However, the Golden Suns have gotten back on track and have won seven of their last eight matches. Arkansas Tech (15-8, 8-3) trails Henderson State by just one match in the GAC standings. Tech has been without the full-time services of the reigning GAC Player of the Year, Amanda Milnick, for the last four weeks. Milnick has only seen action in three sets since the Reddies beat ATU on Sept. 18. Milnick had 27 assists and 15 digs in the first meetings between the two teams. The Reddies will look to slow down Greer Rogers, who led the Golden Suns with 11 kills and a .304 attacking percentage in the loss one month ago.
