MONTICELLO, Ark. — Courtney Bolf and Abby Blackburn recorded double-doubles as the Reddies defeated the Arkansas-Monticello Weevils in HSU's final away match of the season, 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-21). With the victory, Henderson State (25-4, 12-3) has won four-straight matches over UAM. The 12 conference wins this season is the most for the program since 2001, when the Reddies finished 11-1 in conference play, winning the Gulf South West Division.Â
Karlie Greene had an efficient evening, notching nine kills with a .444 attacking percentage. Kenzie Thoman had 15 digs and now has had double-digit digs in six of her last seven matches. Taylor Scalzi chipped in with 12 assists.Â
Bolf's 15 kills and 22 digs leave her just four kills and 17 digs away from becoming the fifth player in school history to have over 1,000 of both in a career.
The Reddies' final match of the regular season is Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Duke Wells Center, where the Reddies will face Southern Arkansas on Senior Night.
SET ONE
The drive down to Monticello did not stop the Reddies from getting off to a fast start and HSU won the first five points of the match behind two aces from Zuzana Ondruskova and two kills from Bolf. UAM won the next two points to make the score 5-2, but another 4-0 spurt from HSU gave the Reddies a comfortable 9-2 lead. The Weevils tried to chip away at the Reddies' lead, but with the score 16-11, HSU re-established a 22-13 advantage after three more kills from Bolf. UAM close the gap to 23-17, but an attack error from the Weevils gave the Reddies the first set, 25-17.Â
SET TWO
In set two, the Reddies were the ones who fell into an early hole as UAM took a quick 6-1 advantage. The Reddies battled back quickly, however, as a 7-2 run evened the score at 8-8. HSU played catch-up for a few rallies, but with the score 14-12 UAM, Henderson went on a 7-0 run to seize control of the second set, 19-14. UAM closed the deficit to three, 20-17, but another dominant sequence from HSU gave the Reddies a two-set lead, 25-17.Â
SET THREE
The third set started much like the first and HSU jumped out to a 6-0 advantage after two kills from Bolf. Henderson padded its lead with a 3-0 run and a 4-0 as the Reddies' advantage ballooned to 17-6. However, the Weevils stormed back and went on a 14-3 run to tie the set at 20-20. A kill from Adrianna Hartmann put Henderson back in front, 21-20 and Henderson did not lose the lead again, as a kill from Greene ended the set, and the match, 25-21.Â
