ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — The Reddies will recognize seniors
Zuzana Ondruskova and
Mikaela Taylor on Thursday night when Henderson State plays its final regular season match of the year against the Southern Arkansas Lady Muleriders at 6:30 p.m. in the Duke Wells Center.
Henderson (25-5, 12-3) played and defeated SAU in the first away match of the Great American Conference season. HSU had little trouble with SAU in the first meeting, winning 3-0 (25-12, 25-22, 25-22). The Reddies are currently tied for second place in the GAC standings and have already locked up at minimum the No. 3 seed in the GAC Tournament which begins on Nov. 8 in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
If the Reddies defeat SAU and Southwestern Oklahoma falls to Northwestern Oklahoma, the Reddies will be the No. 2 seed. If both teams win, tiebreakers will determine who gets the No. 2 and No. 3 seed next weekend.
Scouting Southern Arkansas
After making a Cinderella-type run to the Great American Conference Championship match in 2015, it has been a tough ride for SAU. The Lady Muleriders finished the 2016 season with a 9-21 record and have compiled just a 6-41 record in conference play over the last three seasons. This 2018 campaign has not been a memorable one for SAU, as it carries an 8-20 record into Thursday's matchup. SAU's two conference victories have come against UAM and East Central, but the Muleriders are currently riding a five-match losing streak in which they have only won three sets.
