ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Henderson State will make its first, and only, Oklahoma road trip of the conference season this weekend, when the Reddies take on East Central at 6 p.m. on Friday in Ada, Oklahoma, and Southeastern Oklahoma State at 2 p.m. Saturday in Durant, Oklahoma.
Henderson (17-3, 6-1) returned to form last weekend with two wins against Oklahoma opponents. The Reddies came back from a 1-0 deficit to beat Oklahoma Baptist 3-1 on Friday, before sweeping Southern Nazarene 3-0 on Saturday. HSU is tied for second in the GAC standings and has secured the program's most wins since the 2007 season when the Reddies finished 22-10.
Scouting East Central
The East Central Tigers (0-19, 0-7) have struggled mightily this season and have been unable to get into the win column. ECU has forced a fifth set versus both Southeastern Oklahoma State and Oklahoma Baptist, but dropped the final set of both matches 15-11 and 15-12, respectively. This will be only the third home match the Tigers have played all season. ECU is led by head coach Melissa Anderson, who spent eight seasons at Otero Junior College before arriving at East Central. Coach Anderson is now 14-66 during her time in Ada.
Scouting Southeastern Oklahoma State
The Southeastern Oklahoma State Savage Storm (6-13, 2-5) have also had more downs than ups this season, including losing four of their last five matches. SOSU is not out of contention for post-season play, though, as they currently sit ninth in the GAC Standings behind Southern Nazarene, who carries a 3-4 conference record. The Savage Storm have their share of playmakers, including junior Caitlin Cosby, who was named GAC Defensive Player of the Year at the conclusion of the 2017 season. Brianna Barry is the head coach for the Savage Storm and is currently in her fourth year at Southeastern. Barry has yet to miss out on postseason play during her time in Durant.
