White-Hot Reddies Shoot 75 Percent in the Second Half in 96-75 Win Over Southeastern Oklahoma

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Henderson State had six players score in double figures on Thursday night and shot 75 percent from the field as a team in the second half to race past Southeastern Oklahoma State 96-75 at the Duke Wells Center.

Despite trailing 42-41 at the break to the Savage Storm, who shot just under 73 percent in the first half, the Reddies (12-10, 7-9) never blinked and took control in the second. With the score tied 54-54 at the 13:47 mark, HSU got going, and used 3-pointers from Chris Parker and Tanner Hamilton to jump-start a massive 14-0 run over the next four minutes to quickly seize a 68-54 lead.

Southeastern (11-10, 10-6) was able to hang around and cut the lead down to 75-65 with six minutes left, but it would come no closer, as three big-time alley-oops from Brad Nairn down the stretch helped the Reddies end the game on another 21-10 run and pull away from the Savage Storm for their seventh Great American Conference win of the year.

Parker led Henderson with 22 points and six assists, while Kaylon Tappin added 14 points and seven assists. Josh Jones chipped in 15 points, while Brad Nairn had 13 and seven rebounds. DJ Franklin and Matt Panaggio rounded out the double-figure scorers for the Reddies, as each finished with 10 points.

The Reddies were red-hot in the second half and shot 24-of-32 from the floor in the final 20 minutes. Henderson also enjoyed great success beyond the arc, hitting 13 3-pointers and shooting 54.2 percent from 3-point range for the game. HSU shared the ball particularly well on Thursday night and wound up with 22 assists as a team.

Henderson returns to action on Saturday at 3 p.m. against East Central in the Duke Wells Center.
