Reddies Face East Central in Key GAC Tilt

Henderson State will attempt to end an eight-game losing streak to East Central as the Reddies play host to the Tigers on Saturday in a key GAC showdown at the Duke Wells Center with tip-off slated for 3 p.m.
             
The Reddies, 12-10 overall and 7-9 in league play, are tied for eighth in the GAC standings with six games remaining. Henderson is coming off a 96-75 win over Southeastern Oklahoma in a game that saw the Reddies shoot 75 percent from the field in the second half.

Six Reddies scored in double-figures led by Chris Parker's 22 points. The true freshman from Plano, Texas averages 13.6 points per game along with dishing out 4.0 assists per contest. Earlier this year against ECU, Parker scored a career-high 25 points on 11-of-17 shooting.
           
Kaylon Tappin had a tough start on Thursday but finished the game with 14 points, recording double-figures for the 17 consecutive game. Tappin continues to lead the GAC in scoring averaging 19.1 points per game. The Little Rock native scored 15 points against ECU in January.

Josh Jones scored 15 points against SOSU and now averages 13.9 points per game. The Memphis, Tenn. product scored 16 points and pulled down 5 rebounds in the first game this year against East Central.          
 
East Central enters the contest with a 12-8 overall record and a 10-6 mark in the GAC play.     

The Tigers have six players averaging 10 points or more per game and eight players hitting at least 45 percent from the floor.  

ECU is one of the top 3-point shooting teams in the GAC have made nearly 40 percent from the beyond the arc, averaging 10.6 trifectas per game.

Cameron Talley leads the team averaging 16.7 points while shooting 42 percent from 3-point range having made 52-of-125 treys. Talley scored 19 points back in January against the Reddies.

Da'Rion King averages 12.7 points and a team-best 7.0 boards per game. King scored 20 points in the first game against Henderson.          

Jeremiah Fleming is also dangerous from outside the arc. Averaging just under 10 points per game, Fleming has sunk a team-best 54 3-pointers.
 
East Central leads the all-time series with a 14-12 advantage. The Tigers have won the last eight meetings. Henderson's last win was a 75-56 victory on Jan. 30, 2014 at the Duke Wells Center.           

Saturday's double-header will be carried on 106.9 FM KYXK Arkadelphia/Gurdon with Cyrus Wittig handling the play-by-play.
 
The Domino's pregame show will air 12:45 p.m. with the women's game set for 1 p.m.
