Christian Brothers rallied for six runs in the final three innings to beat Henderson State 10-7, Tuesday in Memphis, Tenn.
The Reddies, 13-9 on the year, held a 7-5 lead midway through the sixth-inning, but the Buccaneers scored two runs in the sixth, three in the seventh and one more in the eighth to rally for the win and improve to 6-15 on the year
Trailing 2-0 after two innings of play, Henderson State scored three runs in the third-inning as
Taylor Langston hit a two-run home run that scored
Brandon Pollock who singled to left field to begin the inning. The Reddies took the lead when
Caleb Carr singled later in the inning to plate
Joe Myers who was hit by a pitch.
After CBU scored runs in the third and fourth-innings to take a 4-3 lead, Henderson again erupted for three runs in the fifth-inning to regain the lead.
Jordan Harris led off the inning with a double down the leftfield line followed by walks issued to
Zack Gray and Langston to load the bases.
With one out, Carr drove in his second run of the game when he reached on a fielder's choice that scored Harris. Carr stole second putting runners on second a third. Both would score when
Dalton Guthrie's ground ball was misplayed by the CBU shortstop allowing both runners to score and put the Reddies on top 6-5.
Henderson tacked on another run in the sixth-inning as Gray hit a sacrifice fly that scored
Danny Spradlin who walked and advanced to third on a Harris single.
The Reddies were held scoreless the final three innings as CBU used three different pitchers in those innings.
Henderson used four pitchers in the contest with
Kris Priddy getting the start and going five innings, striking out five batters while giving up four runs on seven hits.
Dylan McCain got the loss in a relief role, allowing three runs on two hits.
Harris went 2-for-5 with a run scored to lead Henderson's offense. The Reddies totaled five hits, received 12 walks but left 11 runners stranded.
Henderson State returns home Friday for a Great American Conference series against Southeastern Oklahoma with the first-pitch set for 6 p.m. at Clyde Berry Field.
