Henderson State dropped its final double-header of the regular season as Ouachita Baptist beat the Reddies 6-4 and 4-1, Saturday at Clyde Berry Field.
The Reddies, 29-18 overall and 21-12 in the Great American Conference, finishes in fourth-place in the league standings and will open GAC Tournament play next Saturday against Oklahoma Baptist in Enid, Okla.
In the opener, OBU jumped out to a 4-0 lead before the Reddies scored a run in the bottom of the third-inning when
Dylan McCain lined a double to left field to score
Caleb Carr who walked to lead off the inning.
The Tigers got the run back in the fifth-inning but the Reddies cut into the lead, scoring two runs in the seventh to make the score 5-3.
Bryson Haskins began the inning with a bunt single and proceeded to steal second base. With one-out,
Joseph Shepherd walked followed by a Carr single that scored Haskins. Shepherd later scored on a
Nolan Ryan base hit to left field.
Again OBU answered with a run in the eighth to push the lead back to 6-3.
The Reddies threatened in the ninth-inning as
Joe Myers reached on a one-out double to left-center field.
Daniel Colasanto entered the game and walked with one-out.
After a fielder's choice put Reddies on the corners with two-outs, Ryan singled down the left field line to score Myers and make the score 6-4. Henderson then loaded the bases when
Zack Gray received a free pass. McCain then flied out to left field for the final out of the game.
In the series finale, again the Tigers took a 3-0 lead with the help of solo home runs by Kyle Alexander and Ty Owens.
Henderson scored its lone run in the fourth-inning when
Zack Gray was hit by a pitch and later scored on a
Brandon Pollock single.
The Reddies managed five hits in the game while he Tigers finished with nine.
Zach Eschberger started on the mound and worked six innings, striking out seven batters in a losing effort.
Prior to Saturday's double-header Henderson honored its six seniors in
Bryant Haralson,
Zack Gray,
Dylan McCain,
Brentten Schwaab,
Nolan Ryan and
Logan DeRosier.
