Make it 10: Henderson Extends Winning Streak to Double Digits with 3-0 Win Over UAM

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Courtney Bolf recorded her sixth double-double of the season and Taylor Scalzi dished out more than 20 assists for the seventh time in eight contests, as the Reddies extended their winning-streak to 10 matches and defeated the Arkansas-Monticello Weevils in their Great American Conference opener, 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-16). The 10-match winning streak is the longest for the program since 2006 when Henderson competed in the Gulf South Conference.

Karlie Greene, Adrianna Hartmann and Zuzana Ondruskova contributed seven kills, while Kenzie Thoman notched nine defensive digs. The Reddies (11-2, 1-0) play again on Thursday, Sept. 13, when they travel to Magnolia, Arkansas, to face Southern Arkansas at 6 p.m.

SET ONE
After dropping the opening point of the match, three kills from Greene highlighted a 7-1 Reddies run as HSU took complete control of the first set. Slowly but surely, UAM chipped away at the Henderson lead, and eventually cut the deficit down to 15-14. The Reddies responded well to the pressure, and used a 6-1 run to re-take command, 21-15. UAM got no closer than five points, as a Bolf kill sealed the frame for the Reddies, 25-17.

SET TWO
HSU got off to a sluggish start in the second set, and dropped the first two points before eventually falling into an 8-4 hole. After a quick timeout, the Reddies looked like a completely different team, and used a lengthy 16-3 run, behind four kills by Hartmann, to turn a four-point deficit into a 20-9 advantage. UAM did not roll over, but did not threaten in the second set, as the Reddies took a 2-0 match lead, 25-16.

SET THREE
Both teams refused to give an inch in the third set, as the score was tied 4-4 and 8-8. With HSU leading 11-10, kills from Greene, Hartmann and Bolf gave the Reddies breathing room and a 15-11 advantage. Ahead 17-14, Henderson made its move, and used an 8-2 run, capped by an impressive block from Tyler and Hartmann, to claim a 25-16 set win and a 3-0 match victory.
