ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — After three straight-set victories last week, Henderson State (13-2, 2-0) has matched the program's best start through 15 contests since 1993. On Tuesday night, the Reddies will put their early season accomplishments on the line, when they face perhaps their toughest test yet: a road showdown with Arkansas Tech (8-6, 2-1). Arkansas Tech has controlled the GAC, with a record of 66-13 in conference matches since 2013. HSU has beaten the Golden Suns just once since the formation of the league — a 3-1 Reddies' victory in Russellville during the 2016 season.
Scouting Arkansas Tech
The Arkansas Tech Golden Suns volleyball program has been a dominant force in the GAC since the conference's inception. However, the program reached new heights last year, when it finished 35-1 with its only loss coming in the NCAA Central Regional Championship game. The Golden Suns finished 16-0 in conference play last season, and lost just seven sets to GAC foes all year. The Golden suns still have a plethora of talent remaining from that team, including reigning GAC Player of the Year Amanda Milnick. The Golden Suns are led by head coach Kera Dukic, who has the difficult task of replacing Kristy Bayer, who was the conference's coach of the year five times during her tenure at ATU.
