SET ONE
The Reddies did not look fatigued after their two-hour road trip to Russellville, and took four of the first five points en route to an early 4-1 advantage. With HSU in front 8-5, the Golden Suns got hot for the first time. ATU won the next three points to tie the set at 8-8, and proceeded to win seven of the next nine points to take the lead, 15-10. HSU clawed back, and with Tech leading 17-13, the Reddies went on a 5-0 spurt to re-take the lead, 18-17. The Reddies were unable to stay in front, as ATU responded with a 5-1 run. Down 22-19, it was Bolf and Greene who combined for five kills as the Reddies used a 6-1 run to take the set 25-23, and the match lead, 1-0.
SET TWO
The Reddies carried their first set momentum into the second frame, and quickly jumped out to an 8-4 lead behind three kills from Ondruskova. ATU cut the lead to one, 8-7, but a 4-0 spurt from the Reddies returned the lead to five; 12-7. The Golden Suns threatened later in the set, slicing HSU's lead to just one at 17-16. However, the Reddies kept their cool, and answered with a 5-1 run to regain a five point advantage, 22-17. ATU kept it close down the stretch, but a kill from
Tyasia McGruder extinguished the Golden Suns' in the second set, 25-22.
SET THREE
HSU had complete control of the third set from the get-go, and won the frame's first six points to jump ahead 6-0 early. The Reddies' domination continued throughout, as Henderson held Tech at an arm's length for the entire third set, and maintained at least a five-point lead for the entire frame. Bolf had three of the Reddies final four kills as HSU took the set, and the match, with a 25-18 victory.
