Volleyball Hosts Battle of the Ravine Thursday

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — After a hard-fought road win at Southern Arkansas on Tuesday, the Reddies (8-8, 2-2) turn their attention to Ouachita Baptist, who makes the trip across the street for the first of two regular season Battle of the Ravine matchups on Thursday night at 6:30 p.m.

HSU swept the season series with its cross-street rival last year for the first time since 2010, taking both matches 3-2. Five of the last six matches between the two teams have gone to five sets. The Reddies are currently tied for sixth in the Great American Conference standings.

Ouachita Baptist | (8-7, 3-1) | 3rd in GAC
Much like HSU, the Lady Tigers have been looking for consistency following an up-and-down early season slate in which OBU alternated wins and losses for the first 13 matches of the season. The biggest offseason objectives for OBU's second year head coach Allison Frizzell-Kizer was to find a replacement for Stormi Leonard, the 2018 GAC Setter of the Year and the conference's all-time assists leader. In 2019, Ouachita has turned to Temi Fayiga, a redshirt freshman transfer from Abilene Christian, to fill Leonard's shoes. Despite losing Leonard, the Tigers remain potent on offense behind three-time All-GAC honoree Adrianna Nolly, who finished fourth in blocks and seventh in kills during GAC play last season. The Lady Tigers dropped their most recent match, falling 3-1 (25-27, 25-23, 25-21, 25-22) at Arkansas Tech on Tuesday evening. It was their first GAC loss of the year.

HSU Statistical Leaders:
Senior, Courtney Bolf – 204 Kills
Junior, Abby Blackburn – 365 Assists
Sophomore, MaKenzie Thoman – 308 Digs
Senior, Adrianna Hartmann – 62 Blocks

OBU Statistical Leaders:
Senior, Adrianna Nolly – 121 Kills
Freshman, Temi Fayiga – 316 Assists
Sophomore, Lexie Castillow – 270 Digs
Senior, Adrianna Nolly – 51 Blocks

Henderson State Milestone Watch
- Adrianna Hartmann needs two blocks to pass Traci Melancon for seventh in program history and just five to move past Jessica Moss for sixth on the all-time blocks list at Henderson State.

- Courtney Bolf needs one service ace to pass Annick Lagourgue for 10th all-time at the school.
