ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — The Reddies will put their six-game winning streak on the line on Tuesday, as they begin their longest road swing of the season with a matchup against Christian Brothers at 6 p.m. It is the first of five-straight road contests for HSU, who will not return to the Duke Wells Center until Nov. 7.
Henderson State (14-9, 6-3) is also hoping the non-conference tune-up will help it navigate the extremely crowded Great American Conference standings. Following four-straight conference wins, the Reddies are now tied for third in the GAC with five other teams.
This past weekend, the Reddies cruised to victories over Southeastern Oklahoma State and East Central and were led by 30 total kills from Sabrina Show, which included a 17-kill performance against Southeastern Oklahoma State in which Show committed just one attacking error.Â
Henderson has also gotten excellent defensive work from senior Adrianna Hartmann who is averaging nearly six total blocks in her last nine matches. The Reddies are now 9-1 in their last 10 games against Oklahoma-based GAC schools.Â
Christian Brothers | (5-17, 2-5) | T-8th in Gulf South Conference
Currently on the outside looking in for the Gulf South Conference Tournament, the Lady Bucs are hoping for a non-conference boost when the Reddies roll into town. CBU is led by outside hitter Emma Lenoir and middle blocker Miaya Smith, who were both named to the All-Gulf South Conference Second Team following the 2018 season. Both Lenoir and Smith are having solid 2019 campaigns, ranking fifth and 10th in the conference in total points, respectively. The Lady Bucs are led by one of the most experienced coaches in Division II volleyball, In-Sik Hwang, who is in his 18th season at CBU, where he holds the school record for career wins. Henderson's 3-0 sweep over Christian Brothers last season snapped an eight-match losing streak to the Lady Bucs.Â
