ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Henderson State had four players score in double figures and tied a school-record with 15 3-pointers to breeze past Paul Quinn College 103-63 in its final home contest of the calendar year.
It was all Reddies from the get-go as HSU jumped out to a commanding 22-5 lead in the game's first nine minutes. Henderson had a lead as large as 29 points in the opening period before taking a 48-21 advantage into the break. Paul Quinn was held to just 27.6% shooting in the first 20 minutes.
Henderson continued to roll in the second half, as the Reddies shot a scorching 68.9% from the floor (20-of-29) in the final period of action to cruise to another big win.
The Reddies (6-1, 2-0) got five of their 15 threes from
Anthony Lupardus, who finished with a game-high 19 points.
Raekwon Rogers had 18 points and 10 rebounds, while
Chris Parker had 17 and seven assists, and
Rel Johnson chipped in 14.
HSU was 10-of-16 from 3-point range in the second half on Saturday and shot 56.7% from the floor for the game. The win is Henderson's third 30-plus point victory in just seven contests this year.
The Reddies next game is on Dec. 7 when they travel to face Harding in Searcy, Arkansas at 7:30 p.m. Henderson's next home contest does not come until Jan. 2 against Oklahoma Baptist.
