Pollock's Walk-Off Lifts Reddies Over Union, 4-3

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Brandon Pollock had three hits on Wednesday and the third was undoubtedly the biggest, as it helped Henderson State rally for a 4-3 walk-off win over Union.

After falling behind 2-0 early and trailing 2-1 since the sixth inning, the Reddies tied things up in the eighth, when a ball off the bat of Josh Aguilar found its way through the left side of the infield to score Pollock and knot the game at 2-2.

Union came right back in the top of the ninth, though, as a single up the middle put the Bulldogs back in front 3-2 and pushed Henderson to its final three outs.

Needing a run to stay alive, the Reddies got back-to-back singles from Ryan Wieligman and Caleb Carr to lead-off the bottom of the inning, and a bunt single on the next at-bat by Bryson Haskins, to load the bases with no outs.

After a hard line-out to second, Pollock came to the plate and blistered the second pitch he saw through the left side. Wieligman scored easily and Carr was waved home as he rounded third, but a throw never came to the plate, as the Bulldogs' left fielder misplayed the ball, allowing Carr to sprint in standing up and win it for the Reddies, 4-3.

Pollock was 3-for-5 on the day for Henderson with an RBI, a double, and two runs scored. Josh Aguilar also had two hits in the game and finished with two RBIs after driving in Pollock in the eighth and the Reddies' first run of the game in the sixth.

Dalton O'Donnell made his first start of the year and went 6.0 innings, allowing just four hits and two earned runs. Jon Youngblood got the win out of the pen and worked his way out of a big bases loaded jam in the top of the ninth to give Henderson a chance late.

The Reddies go on the road this weekend to Shawnee, Oklahoma, for a three-game series with Oklahoma Baptist. Henderson faces OKBU in a single game Friday at 2 p.m. and a doubleheader Saturday at noon.
