Reddies Go Cold in Loss to Savage Storm

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Henderson State shot just 36.9 percent from the floor on Thursday night and Southeastern Oklahoma State hit 11 3-pointers as the Savage Storm got by the Reddies 83-61.

After falling behind 13-4 in the opening minutes of the game, the Reddies (17-10, 12-9) responded with a 16-6 run over the next nine minutes to take a 20-19 lead at the 6:44 mark. The lead was short-lived as the Savage Storm (19-6, 15-6) put together a 22-11 run, behind three 3-pointers, to close the half and carry a 41-31 advantage into the break.

Things snowballed for Henderson at the start of the second, as SOSU opened the period on a 21-7 run to take its largest lead of the game, 62-38. A quick 3-pointer and bucket from Mike Fofana powered a 7-0 spurt and trimmed the gap down to 62-45 with 12:37 remaining, but HSU would get no closer, as the Savage Storm closed it out to win its sixth-straight game.

Tanner Hamilton had a career-high 13 points to lead Henderson on the night and hit three 3-pointers. The Reddies had 10 different players score in the game but shot just 12-for-35 from the floor in the second half.

Henderson plays its final regular season game of the year on Saturday, when it hosts East Central at 3 p.m. on Senior Day at the Duke Wells Center.
