Henderson Trounces OBU 75-46 on Thursday Night

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Sophomore Maci Mains came off the bench to lead the Reddies in scoring for the fourth- straight game, and Blu Jones scored eight points in less than two minutes to help put the game out of reach, as Henderson State took down Ouachita Baptist for the sixth-straight time on Thursday evening, 75-46.

Henderson State (11-4, 6-3) got right back into the win column after having their four-game winning streak snapped last Saturday by Southwestern Oklahoma State. Mains picked up right where she left off in the Sooner State, scoring 17 points on 6-of-14 shooting. The Springdale, Arkansas native has now scored 17 or more in four-consecutive games.

Lani Snowden turned in another efficient performance for the Reddies, scoring 12 points on 4-oif-6 shooting while playing a team-high 36 minutes.

HSU will look for its fourth-straight win over Arkansas Tech when the Reddies travel to Russellville to take on the Golden Suns on Saturday at 1 p.m.

1st Quarter
The Reddies were energized by Mains midway through the first quarter when the Sophomore came off the bench to score five points in less than 30 seconds to give HSU a 7-4 lead with 5:54 to play in the first quarter. Despite the boost from the bench, Henderson State would hit just one basket for the rest of the quarter and trail 10-9 at the end of one.

2nd Quarter
Henderson State was quick to flip the script in the second quarter, hitting six of their first nine shots during a 14-2 run that turned a one-point deficit into a 23-12 lead with 4:23 in the half. After the Lady Tigers cut HSU's lead to seven, 24-17, the Reddies used an 8-0 in the last three minutes to build a commanding 32-17 lead heading into the halftime break.

3rd Quarter
Ouachita Baptist came out firing after the intermission, outscoring the Reddies 11-2 in the first 2:24 of the second half which whittled HSU's lead to just six, 34-28. With the chance to make it a one possession game, the Lady Tigers missed four straight shots before a momentum swinging 3-pointer from Snowden gave the Reddies a 37-28 lead. Following the media timeout, with the score the same, it turned into the Blu Jones show. The senior guard scored on four straight possessions for the Reddies to help them rebuild a 49-33 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.

4th Quarter
By the final frame, the thin Tigers rotation had run out of gas, enabling the Reddies to enforce their will. HSU scored eight of the first 10 points of the quarter to build a 22-point lead, 57-35. Ouachita Baptist would not get closer than 21 as Madi Nichols, Gracie Raby, and Ashley Farrar all splashed 3-point shots down the stretch to give HSU their 11th win in 12 tries against the Lady Tigers.
