Henderson Aims for Season Sweep of ATU Saturday

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Henderson State will look to sweep Arkansas Tech for the second-straight season on Saturday when the Reddies travel to take on the Golden Suns at 1 p.m. in Russellville, Arkansas.

REDDIES REPORT
- Henderson State (11-4, 6-3) outscored Ouachita Baptist 23-7 in the second quarter on Thursday to power its way to its biggest win over OBU since the formation of the GAC, 75-46. The Reddies have won six-straight against their neighbors and 11 of the last 12.

- For the fourth-straight game, sophomore Maci Mains led the Reddies in scoring as she finished with 17 points on 6-of-14 shooting. The Springdale, Arkansas native is averaging 18 points per game in HSU's last four contests.

- Junior Lani Snowden had another efficient night for the Reddies on Thursday, posting 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting including a 2-of-3 outing from long distance. Snowden is now the NCAA Division II leader in 3-point accuracy, knocking down an astronomical 53.2% of her 3-point attempts.

- Blu Jones turned things around in the third quarter against Ouachita, scoring eight-straight points for the Reddies which helped HSU reclaim a double-digit lead. Jones finished with 10 points which was her first double-digit output of the 2020 calendar year.

 - Hailey Estes continues to pound the boards for Henderson State and pulled down 13 rebounds against Ouachita Baptist after setting a new career-high with 19 rebounds at Southwestern Oklahoma State last Saturday. Estes has had 10 or more boards in four of her last five games and is averaging 11.9 rebounds per game in GAC play.

- The Reddies beat Arkansas Tech 70-62 in Russellville last season for the program's first road win against the Golden Suns since the 2005-06 season. A win on Saturday could make it four-straight victories over Tech for HSU dating back to 2018.

HENDERSON STATE MILESTONE WATCH
- Hailey Estes needs eight points to move into seventh place on Henderson's all-time scoring list. She also needs just two 3-point field goals to become the second player in HSU history with 250 in a career (Haleigh Henson).

- Pink Jones needs three steals to become the fifth player in HSU history to record 200 steals in a career.

SCOUTING ARKANSAS TECH
- Arkansas Tech (8-5, 5-4) has had to re-tool its offensive philosophy midway through the season after losing two of its top scorers with injury.  Freshman Jalei Oglesby, who was averaging 19.4 points per game, exited the Southern Arkansas contest on Dec. 14 and has not played since. Her backcourt colleague Hannah Villines was averaging 10.2 points per contest before being injured on Nov. 27 against Lane College.

- Even with the losses of two of the league's top guards, the Golden Suns still have plenty of firepower. Freshman Kaley Shipman has picked up the scoring slack, averaging 15.8 points in her last four contests including a season-high 26 points in a win at Oklahoma Baptist.

- Arkansas Tech has also increased its offensive action in the post which was evident against Harding on Thursday night. Despite the 76-71 overtime loss, ATU's post players Ryann Goodsell, Lycia Peevy, and Brenda Da Silva combined to score 29 points on an efficient 12-of-23 shooting night from the floor.

- The Reddies took the season's first meeting with ATU on Nov. 23, 89-71. In that contest, HSU knocked down a season-high 17 3-point field goals while holding Tech to 33.3% shooting.
