Henderson Hosts Cotton Blossoms Saturday

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — The Reddies will look for some pay back for an early season loss on Saturday when they face off with Arkansas-Monticello at 1 p.m in the Duke Wells Center.

REDDIES REPORT
- Henderson State (15-6, 10-5) held SAU to 3-of-17 shooting in the third quarter while exploding for 13 made field goals on the way to its 10th victory of the GAC season on Thursday night.

- Lani Snowden poured 25 points for the Reddies to lead all scorers in the win. The quarter-century worth of scoring for the junior marked her career-high against GAC opponents and her 10 made field goals were the most of her career. Snowden also went 5-for-11 from 3-point range, the fourth time in her career that the Van Buren native has connected on five 3-point shots in a single contest.

- Pink Jones dominated Thursday's game, scoring 16 points on 7-of-13 shooting while dishing out three assists and notching two steals in just 22 minutes of action. The senior scored 10 of her points in the first quarter as she helped Henderson adjust to SAU's run and jump defense. Pink is a combined 12-for-23 from the floor in her last two contests.

- Senior Hailey Estes filled up the stat sheet for the Reddies on Thursday night, just missing out on a double-double with nine points, 13 rebounds, five steals and three assists. Estes now has 10 or more rebounds in 11 of HSU's 21 games this season.

- Although Estes led all rebounders against SAU, no one was more efficient on the glass than senior Lexis Weber, who hauled in 11 rebounds in just 22 minutes of action. Despite not scoring, Weber was instrumental in Henderson's third quarter spurt. The Arlington, Texas native checked into the game when the Reddies led 43-42, and checked out early in the fourth quarter when HSU had built a 68-51 lead.

HENDERSON STATE MILESTONE WATCH
- With three assists in the win against the Lady Muleriders, Pink Jones passed Julie Anderson to become Henderson State's all-time assist leader. Pink needs six points to become the third player in HSU history to score 1,500 points in a career.

- Hailey Estes needs five rebounds to become just the fourth player in Great American Conference history to pull down 900 boards in a career.

- The win over SAU was head coach Jill Thomas' 99th during her time at Henderson State. She will go for her 100th win and would be the third coach in Henderson history to accomplish that feat against Arkansas-Monticello.

SCOUTING ARKANSAS MONTICELLO
- Arkansas Monticello (13-8, 8-7) has leveled off after a one of the best starts in program history when the Blossoms won their first seven games of the season. UAM has dropped three-straight contests, all on the road, and has failed to score more than 62 points in each of the losses. The Blossoms are 3-7 on the road this season and have just one road win since December.

- Despite the struggles away from home, UAM touts one of the GAC's most electrifying players in Berniezha Tidwell. A Hot Springs native, Tidwell is possibly the league's best ball handler and averages 16.4 points per game which is good for second in the league. The senior is the only player in the conference to rank in the Top-10 in points, rebounds, and assists.

- The Blossoms also have a handful of secondary scorers, with four players averaging eight or more points on the year. Junior guard Mackenzie Tillman is the most efficient of those contributors, shooting 50% from the floor on the season. The Little Rock native has been excellent over the last three games, averaging 14.6 points on 61.5% shooting.

- The recent history between Henderson State and Arkansas Monticello has been dead even with both teams 7-7 in the last 14 matchups.
