High-Flying Reddies Too Much for Lady Warriors

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State gave its home crowd an early Christmas present after dominating the entire 40 minutes against Bacone College and claiming its ninth win of the season, 112-49. The 63-point victory is the largest margin of victory HSU has seen in head coach Jill Thomas' nine years at Henderson.

In the victory, Lani Snowden moved into third all-time in made three-pointers with 177. Snowden came into the night one shy of tying Linda Lyle and her 173 made treys. The Van Buren, Arkansas, native closed the night on 5-of-9 shooting from deep.

The Reddies had seven players score eight or more points in the scoring frenzy, led by Snowden with 23. Karrington Whaley maintained her efficiency streak after going a perfect 4-for-4 from the field and 6-for-6 from the free throw line for 14 points.

True-freshman Bethany Richardson claimed a career-high 12 points on 5-7 shooting and 2-4 from beyond the arc. Fellow freshman Eryka Patton also saw a career-high nine points, taking a page out of Whaley's book with a perfect 4-4 showing from the field and connecting on her lone free-throw of the night.

In addition to the scoring barrage, Henderson's offense was functioning like a well-oiled machine as the home team found 25 assists on the night to go along with the 112 points – the most points ever scored by an HSU team under Thomas. Ashley Farrar led the way with a career-high six assists as the junior guard was flirting with a triple-double after posting a stat line of 17 points, six rebounds and six assists.

The Reddies proved to be too much for the Lady Warriors from the jump as they raced out to a 17-3 lead within the first five minutes of game time. The Henderson defense only allowed five more points the rest of the quarter as HSU went into the second quarter ahead 31-8 for the second-most points the Reddies have scored in a quarter this season.

Henderson nearly matched that with 30 points in the second while only giving up 11 to the visiting Lady Warriors as HSU took the mountain of a lead into the half, 61-19, marking the most points the Reddies have scored in a single half all season.

With Henderson building its lead into the 50s in the third frame, a fourth quarter that did not feature a single starter yielded the first 60-point lead of the game for the home team off a Richardson three-pointer that put HSU over the century mark. With the largest lead of the game at 64, 111-47, the Reddies left the Duke Wells Center with the 112-49 win.

Henderson State (7-2, 2-1) returns to conference action this weekend in its toughest GAC road test of the season when it heads to Searcy, Arkansas, to take on the Harding Lady Bisons inside the Rhodes-Reaves Field House Saturday, Dec. 18 at 5:30 p.m.
