ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Henderson State will be in search of its biggest win of the year on Thursday when it welcomes first-place Arkansas-Monticello to the Duke Wells Center for a 7 p.m. tip-off.

REDDIES REPORT
- The Reddies put together a terrific defensive performance on Monday night to dispatch of Ouachita Baptist for the second time this season, 59-55. HSU held the Tigers to just two points in the final 4:52 of regulation after falling behind 53-50. OBU shot just 38.6% from the field in the game and 34% in the first half.

- Henderson turning in a great defensive effort has become common this season. The Reddies have held four of their last six opponents to a team field goal percentage of under 40%. HSU is second in the GAC in field goal percentage defense (40.8% shooting for opponents) after leading the conference in that same stat in 2019-20 and ranks fifth in scoring defense (70.0).

- HSU has shot a better percentage from the floor than its opposition in six of its last seven contests and has not shot worse than 40% from the field in a game this year. The only opponent to have a better shooting game than Henderson since Jan. 21 was UAM in the last meeting between the two sides in Monticello.

- Jeremiah Toney has come on strong for HSU in the last two weeks. The senior from Little Rock is shooting 51.8% from the floor in his last four contests and has scored in double figures in three of those outings. Toney averages 10.5 points and seven rebounds per game for the Reddies and has scored in double figures six times this year.

- The Reddies are looking for their first home win over UAM since February of 2016 on Thursday evening. The Weevils have won 10 of the last 11 in the series between the two teams and taken the last five meetings in Arkadelphia. HSU is 26-7 at home dating back to 2018-19, but three of those losses have come at the hands of UAM.

SCOUTING ARKANSAS-MONTICELLO
- Arkansas-Monticello comes to the Duke Wells Center on Thursday 9-3 overall and 8-3 in GAC action. The Weevils sit atop the Eastern Division after defeating SAU 78-69 on Monday night in Magnolia, Arkansas. UAM has won five of its last six games.

- UAM is one of the best 3-point shooting teams in the country this year. The Weevils are hitting on 41.7% of their shots from beyond the arc as a team, which ranks No. 1 nationally for teams who have played 10 or more games. Monticello also leads the GAC in scoring margin (+8.2), free throw percentage (76.6%) and turnover margin (+4.67).

- The Weevils have had two very productive outings already this season against HSU. Monticello shot 56% from the field in the first matchup in Arkadelphia and then hit on 46.3% of its looks in the second game. During the second meeting at Steelman Fieldhouse, HSU had a 33-29 lead with two minutes until the half, but UAM used a 30-7 run to take control and win it.
