ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – After last week's game got canceled due to weather, the Henderson State women's volleyball team (1-2) returns to play after two weeks off, starting with the first Battle of the Ravine of the season Tuesday night when it takes on Ouachita Baptist at the Sturgis Physical Education Center. First serve is set for 6 pm.

Henderson State (1-2, 1-2)
After winning its season-opening match against Southern Arkansas 3-1, HSU has dropped its last two matches, including a five-set marathon against Arkansas Tech inside Tucker Coliseum in Henderson's last outing.

The Reddies registered their most service aces of the season against ATU with nine as they got three from Makenzie Thoman and Mya Robinson each. Robinson also led the way with 15 kills as she has seen double-digit kills in every match this season while Violeta Mendoza Quintana saw her best match as a Reddie with 12 kills. Thoman was also very active on the defensive side of the ball, boasting a team-high 28 digs.

A junior libero from O'Fallon, Missouri, Thoman is nine digs away from claiming 1000 digs for her HSU career. Taylor Scalzi sits at 1240 set assists for her career and is 103 away from passing Gwen Smith for 11th all-time. With seven matches remaining on the season, the junior from Flower Mound, Texas needs to average 14.7 assists per match the rest of the way to claim that eleventh spot. Current teammate Abby Blackburn is currently 8th all-time with 1639 set assists.

Henderson State leads the all-time series against Ouachita Baptist 31-21 and has won three of the last four meetings. The last time HSU and OBU faced off on Ouachita's home floor, the Reddies got the best of the Tigers 3-0 as HSU saw 14 kills in each set that day.

Ouachita Baptist | (1-2, 1-2)
Ouachita is coming off a 14-14 campaign, 9-7 in conference play. The Tigers were formidable at home, going 8-3 compared to 4-6 on the road and 2-5 at neutral sites. OBU has had to replace its leading attacker from 2019 in Katie Camp who was responsible for a team-high 259 kills.

The Tigers are led this year by their heavy-hitter Kayla Steinmeyer who, through only two matches played, has 20 kills and a hitting percentage of .200. OBU's libero Lexie Castillow boasts 56 digs, 35 more than the next girl.

This match will be the second home match on the season for OBU. The Tigers lost their home-opener to Arkansas Tech 3-0. Ouachita's lone win this year was against Southern Arkansas where OBU outlasted the Muleriders 3-2.
