HSU Returns From Two-Week Hiatus Against UAM

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State has not played since Mar. 9 when the Reddies took the ninth-ranked Harding Lady Bisons to five sets. Henderson will get back into action Wednesday, Mar. 23 when it heads to Monticello, Arkansas to battle the University of Arkansas at Monticello at 6 p.m. inside Steelman Field House.
 
Henderson State (3-4, 3-4)
The last time HSU participated in match play, the Reddies took Harding the distance at its place. After Henderson won the first set, that marked the first time the Lady Bisons had given up a set on its home floor in five matches. Violeta Mendoza Quintana led all Reddies with 17 kills, followed by Mya Robinson with 15.
 
Robinson paces Henderson with 79 kills on the season for 2.82 kills per set. Mendoza Quintana has 77 while she is hitting .133 – the highest percentage of anyone with at least 25 kills. Bree Sanders holds down the defense for HSU with 18 total blocks, while Kaitlyn Sykes and Brae Denton are both boasting three solo blocks.
 
Henderson State defeated Arkansas-Monticello in the year's first matchup inside the Duke Wells Center, 3-1. The Reddies now sport a seven-game winning streak with their last loss against the Blossoms coming on Nov. 8, 2016. That November day was the also the last time this matchup did not see HSU win in four sets or less.
 
Arkansas-Monticello (3-5, 3-5)  
The Blossoms have dropped three of their last four matches, but won their last outing against Ouachita Baptist, 3-1. Arkansas-Monticello is 2-2 at home, with those two losses coming in the last three contests.
 
Faith Wilemon leads the team with 80 kills on the season for an attacking percentage of .144. Victoria Hamilton has a team-high attack percentage of .212 for the Blossoms. Katie Pearson is sporting 266 set assists – an absurd 90% of UAM's total assists. The next closest is Katelyn Richbourg with 19.
