ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State responded to Thursday's home loss in a powerful way, posting its fifth double-digit home victory of the season after defeating Southeastern Oklahoma St., 76-57. The win improves the Reddies to 7-1 at home and snaps SOSU's two-game winning streak over HSU.
Â
Every single Henderson player that saw playing time scored on the afternoon, with
Lani Snowden leading the way with 14 points, all of which came in the first half.
Karrington Whaley came through with 12 points two days after she scored her 1000th point, moving her career total to 1012.
Â
Gracy Raby offered her contribution on the rebounding side of things, pulling down a season-high nine rebounds, with four of them coming on the offensive glass. Sophomore-transfer
Abbie Jiles added an HSU career-high five points after getting her first start of the season. Â

Head coach
Jill Thomas rolled out a brand new starting five on the afternoon to start the game, which featured two true-freshmen. The new five came out step-for-step with the Savage Storm and had the game tied at 4-4 after falling behind 4-0 before any of the original five was subbed into the game.
Â
With Thomas slowly beginning to put the usual suspects back in, that's when the Reddies started to separate themselves. With 1:52 remaining in the first quarter, Southeastern hit a jumper to cut the deficit to 13-11 and would not see another point the rest of the quarter as HSU closed the frame on an 8-0 run, six of which came off back-to-back Snowden triples.
Â
The Savage Storm would register the first four points of the second period before Henderson went on another scoring rampage, going for 16 unanswered to extend the margin to 22. An SOSU lay-up stopped the onslaught, but not before the Reddies had built a 37-17 lead.
Â
Henderson shot 45.5% from the field and an unconscious 50% from beyond-the-arc while holding Southeastern to 30% and 33.3% from long range in route to the 40-23 halftime advantage. Snowden was brilliant in the opening 20 minutes, going 4-for-4 from deep after missing on her first attempt.
Â
The third period was the only quarter that Henderson lost all game, as SOSU threatened, cutting the lead to 11 on two separate occasions. Each time the margin teetered on the edge of single-digits, the Reddies responded with four-point spurts both times to keep the Savage Storm at bay. Despite shooting 0-8 from three-point range, HSU still held onto the 54-39 advantage.
Â
With a 15-point lead heading into the final 10 minutes, Henderson extended that to 19 as the score never got closer than 12 points the rest of the way, claiming its seventh conference victory of the season with the 76-57 victory. 57 points is the second fewest points HSU has allowed to a conference opponent this season.
