Henderson Hosts SAU on Senior Night

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State will recognize senior Kaitlyn Sykes on the final home match of the season against Southern Arkansas University on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m.

In their last match, the Reddies faced Harding University, who defeated HSU 3-0 in the second meeting.
 
Against the Lady Bison, Dani Dagley tallied 25 digs and now has back-to-back matches with 20 or more. The Katy, Texas native ranks tenth on the GAC leaderboard, averaging 3.62 digs a set. Dagley has shared the libero spot with Trinity Sharp due to both being strong players in the back line. Sharp is second in total digs with 326 and averages 3.66 a set.
 
Aleah Stogner has led the HSU attack over the last two matches, recording two double-digit kill matches. Against Harding, the freshman had 11 kills, bringing her total to 180, and finished with an attack average of .205.   
 
Middle-blocker Kaitlyn Sykes has done it all for the Reddies this season. The North Richland Hills, Texas native has tallied 113 kills, third most on the team, and leads the team with 75 total blocks. Sykes is ninth on the blocks leaderboard, averaging .84 a set.
 
Henderson and Southern Arkansas went four sets in the first meeting this season, with the Muleriders winning 3-1. HSU currently leads the all-time meeting between the two sides 47-15 and has not lost in Arkadelphia, Ark. to SAU since 2015.
 
Scouting Southern Arkansas
Southern Arkansas split its two matches last week, defeating Arkansas-Monticello 3-1 and losing to Arkansas Tech 3-1. The Muleriders are 4-10 in conference play and have a 6-19 overall record.
 
Landry Rogers and Anna Crittenden spearheaded the SAU attack in the last two matches, recording 31 and 25 kills, respectively. Rogers had an impressive 23-kill match against UAM and is sixth in the GAC in kills and seventh in points.
 
SAU has two players who dictate the attack in Morgan Schuster and Emily Larmeu. The duo has combined for 84 assists over the two matches, while Schuster ranks seventh in the league, averaging 6.95 assists per set.
 
What to Watch For…
  • Southern Arkansas' last victory over Henderson in the Duke Wells Center was in 2015 when they won 3-0. Since then, the Reddies have won the previous five meetings at home,  winning 15 sets and only dropping two. SAU's first victory this season snapped an HSU 12-match win streak.
