Reddies Battle the Golden Suns on the Road

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State is set to clash with in-state foes Arkansas Tech in its third GAC game of the season on Monday, Dec. 12. The Reddies and Golden Suns will tip off at 4 p.m. inside the Tucker Coliseum. 
 
REDDIES REPORT
Henderson is 2-0 in the GAC after defeating Southern Arkansas and Arkansas-Monticello. The Reddies won in overtime in an action-packed, high-scoring contest against SAU 98-90 in their first game of the week. In the following match, HSU got a road win over UAM, 75-70 in overtime.
 
Ashley Farrar was named GAC Player of the Week for her performances against SAU and UAM. The senior combined for 56 points and 23 rebounds while recording a double-double in the Southern Arkansas game. Farrar's 44 points versus the Muleriders are the most scored by an induvial player this season across Division II women's basketball.  
 
Jasmine Bailey got her first two starts of the season against Southern Arkansas and Arkansas-Monticello and scored a career-high 15 points in Henderson's road win over UAM. Bobbi Bazzle recorded her first double-double as a Reddie with 10 points and 11 rebounds versus the Blossoms.  
 
The HSU offense averages 70.3 points a game while shooting 37.2 percent from the field. With quick passing, the Reddies' offense finds the open space in the opposition's defense and can pick up good shooting positions. Sonni Martin and Abbie Jiles have an eye for picking out the open shooters, with 29 and 21 assists, respectively.
 
Henderson did the double over Arkansas Tech last season and is currently on a three-game win streak. In the most recent matchup, the Reddies defeated ATU 85-57 inside the Tucker Coliseum. This will be the 109th meeting between the two sides, with Arkansas Tech leading the all-time series.
 
SCOUTING ARKANSAS TECH
The Golden Suns have started their conference slate with two wins over Arkansas-Monticello and Ouachita Baptist. Arkansas Tech got things going with a 75-63 home win over UAM and followed it up with an overtime victory on the road against OBU, 80-77.
 
Arkansas Tech does not take many shots from deep, as the team has only attempted 103 shots from the three-point line this season compared to HSU's 195 attempts. However, the Golden Suns are the third-best team in the GAC when shooting from the field, converting at a rate of 43.6 percent and averaging 75.5 points a game.
 
ATU enter the game with the best turnover margin in the conference. Arkansas Tech is averaging 14.2 turnovers a game, while its opponents turn the ball over 22 times a game on average. In their last match, the Golden Suns forced Ouachita Baptist into 27 turnovers, while ATU only had 19. Jalei Oglesby leads the team with 13 steals and is also the team's leading scorer, averaging 18.3 points a game.
