HSU Wraps Up 2022 Against Harding

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Henderson State women's basketball program will close out 2022 with a home game against Harding University on Saturday, Dec. 17. The Reddies and Lady Bisons will tip off at 1 p.m. in the Duke Wells Center.
 
REDDIES REPORT
HSU improved to 3-0 in the GAC with a road win over Arkansas Tech, 78-67. Gracie Raby led the way for the Reddies with a career-high 22 points against the Golden Suns and was one of four players to score double-digit points. Abbie Jiles led the team with nine rebounds, while Sonni Martin recorded a team-high five assists.
 
Against the Golden Suns, the Reddies got off to a fast start scoring 24 points in the opening ten minutes. Points were hard to come by for HSU in the second period as they were held to 11 and went into the half leading by two, 35-33. The pace picked up again in the second half for the Reddies as the team scored 22 points in the third period and 21 in the fourth in their victory.    
 
Henderson is one of the top-scoring teams in the GAC, averaging 71.1 points a game, which is fourth-best in the conference. HSU's offense is led by Ashley Farrar, who has scored 201 points this season and is averaging 22.3 points per game. The Reddies have put up 75 points or more in each of their last three games, including 98 against SAU.
 
As a team, HSU is shooting 37.6 percent from the field and 33.0 percent from beyond the arc while converting at 70.3 percent a clip from the free-throw line. Henderson is the fourth-best rebounding team, led by Farrar, who is averaging 6.3 rebounds a game. HSU is averaging 41.3 rebounds per game and is the second-best defensive rebounding team in the league.  
 
Henderson has won its last four games against Harding and has not lost to the Lady Bisons since the 2020-21 season. In the previous meeting, HSU defeated HU 95-85, with current Reddie Farrar leading the way with 25 points. Henderson and Harding will meet for the 67th time this Saturday in the Duke Wells Center.
 
SCOUTING HARDING
The Lady Bisons enter the game on a seven-game win streak and have won all three of their GAC games. Harding started its conference slate with a 66-51 victory over Ouachita Baptist and followed up the win with an overtime victory over Southern Arkansas, 105-103. The Lady Bisons recently defeated Arkansas-Monticello 65-56 to improve to 7-3 for the season and 3-0 in the GAC.
 
Harding does not allow the opposition to score many points, as they rank third in the conference in scoring defense. Opposition teams are averaging 60.4 points a game compared to the Lady Bisons' fifth-ranked scoring offense, which is averaging 70.7 points per game. The HU offense is led by Sage Hawley, who paces the team with 19.3 points a game on average.
 
Along with having one of the best defenses in the league, the Lady Bisons are the second-best rebounding team in the GAC. HU is averaging 42.4 rebounds a game and is outrebounding their opposition with a plus 12.2 margin. Hawley had a team-high 15 rebounds against SAU and nine versus UAM.
