Reddie Men Go for Third-Straight Win Thursday Versus SWOSU

LIVE COVERAGE | GAME NOTES

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Henderson State goes for its third-straight win on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. when the Reddies host Southwestern Oklahoma State at the Duke Wells Center.

REDDIES REPORT
- Henderson trailed by as many as eight points in the second half on Monday night before rallying to defeat Ouachita Baptist 57-49. The Reddies closed the game on a 23-8 run over the final 8:38. The win was the ninth victory this season for HSU that came in a contest where it trailed at some point in the second half. Henderson trailed at halftime in eight of those nine games.

- The Reddies have become adept at winning low-scoring, defensive battles. HSU is 5-2 this season when it scores less than 60 points, and has held its opponent to under 40% shooting from the floor nine times. In 15 GAC contests, Henderson's opponent has been held to under 60 points on seven occasions.

- Alvin Miles has found his scoring touch for the Reddies in the last two weeks. The guard from Memphis has scored in double figures in each of HSU's last four games, including 15 points and five assists against SAU and 12 points off the bench in the win over Ouachita. Miles leads the team with 59 assists this year (2.8 per game) and has scored in double figures in 10 different games.

- In its last matchup with SWOSU, Henderson put together by far its best shooting performance of the year in an 80-70 win. The Reddies shot 56% from the field and were 11-for-23 from beyond the arc. The 11 made 3-pointers remain the most in a single game for HSU this season and mark the only time the Reddies have made 10 or more. The Bulldogs were held to just 38% shooting and gave up a 14-3 run in the last 3:40 of the game.

- The Reddies have controlled the series with Southwestern Oklahoma in recent years. Henderson has won 11-straight dating back to 2016 and has not lost to the Bulldogs at home in Arkadelphia since January of 2015.

SCOUTING SWOSU
- Southwestern Oklahoma State comes into Thursday night's contest 7-12 overall and 6-8 in GAC play. The Bulldogs have dropped their last three games to UAM, Oklahoma Baptist and Southeastern Oklahoma State. SWOSU is 3-6 in road games this season.

- Senior guard Damion Thornton continues to be the catalyst for SWOSU and is averaging a league-high 20.6 points per game in GAC contests. Thornton is also grabbing 8.6 rebounds per game in conference play. Fellow guard Kamden Gipson averages 12.4 points and 3.8 assists per game and has taken 35 more shots than any player on the team.

- SWOSU ranks seventh in the conference in scoring offense (70.3 points per game) and 10th in scoring defense (74.6 per game). The Bulldogs are shooting just 39% from the floor in GAC play, which is the lowest field goal percentage in the league. Southwestern is also allowing opponents to shoot a league-high 36.4% from beyond the arc.
