SEARCY, Ark. –
Mulan Kamoe went 2-0 across doubles and singles, yet Henderson State fell in its conference opener to No. 36 Harding at the David Elliott Tennis Complex in Searcy, Arkansas, 6-1.
After the newly released ITA rankings were posted, the No. 46 ranked doubles team of
Mulan Kamoe and
Georjemah Row defeated No. 42 Grace Dodd and Allison Carpenter at the top line, 6-3, improving HSU's top duo to 8-3 on the season.
After the No. 36 Lady Bisons barely escaped doubles after the Reddies' No. 3
Vinda Teally and
Danna Nunez were up 4-3 before HU won four of the next five games, Harding claimed the massive momentum shift moving into singles play up 1-0.
Kamoe again was the lone Reddie to see victory, defeating the Lady Bisons' top player Grace Dodd for the second time on the afternoon in straight sets at the No. 1 spot once more, 6-1, 6-1. The Nasoso Nadi, Fiji, native has only dropped four of 40 games over the last three matches, improving to 7-4 on the year.
Henderson St. (4-7) will remain on the road when it heads to Durant, Oklahoma, to take on yet another ranked conference opponent in No. 37 Southeastern Oklahoma State Saturday, April 9 at 10 a.m.
