Reddies Fall in Three Sets to Harding on the Road

SEARCY, Ark. – Henderson State volleyball fell on the road to Harding in three sets at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.
 
Violeta Mendoza Quintana recorded eight kills and eight digs while also tying with Brae Denton for a team-high four blocks. Madison Hatt and Nathalie Van combined for 17 of the team's 22 assists, and Trinity Sharp led the side with ten digs.
 
HSU (16-9, 7-5) returns home for its next three matches, starting with Arkansas Tech on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at 6:30 p.m.
 
SET ONE
Henderson State and Harding traded the first six points before the Lady Bisons broke the deadlock on a 4-0 to take a 6-3 edge. HU stretched its advantage to 15-4 as HSU used its second timeout of the set. The Reddies cut the lead to eight on a 4-0 run, but the Lady Bisons remained in control, winning the first set 25-15.
 
SET TWO
Similar to the opening frame, HSU and HU were tied at 3-3 before Harding jumped ahead 6-3. The Reddies kept within three of the Lady Bisons through kills from Jacey Tupper and Mendoza Quintana, trailing 9-6. The Harding attack would prove too much as the Lady Bisons closed out the set on an 11-0 run to take the frame 25-8. 
 
SET THREE
Harding led the opening exchanges 4-2, but the Reddies responded with a 4-0 run to take the lead 9-8 after three errors by HU and a kill from Luke. The Lady Bisons used their first timeout and tied the set at 9-9 out of the break and would take the lead 15-12. Two kills by Mendoza Quintana and another by Uzoh tied the stanza at 18-18. From there, the set saw three ties and a pair of lead changes before Harding found the upper hand on a 3-0 run to win the final set 25-22.
