HSU Routs the Golden Suns on Senior Night 85-67

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Seniors shine in the final home game of the season as Henderson State defeats Arkansas Tech 85-67 in the Duke Wells Center. The Reddies are now locked in as three seed heading into the GAC Tournament with its win over ATU.

Ashley Farrar became the fifth all-time scorer in program history, scoring 29 points to bring her career total to 1348, passing HSU legend Aungelique Sledge (1341). Gracie Raby recorded 14 points and had eight rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal.

Jasmine Bailey was a perfect 3-3 from the field and 2-2 from beyond the arc, scoring eight points. Sonni Martin was the team's facilitator with seven assists and zero turnovers, while Tamia Templeton led the team at the glass, grabbing a team-high ten rebounds.

Henderson attacked from beyond the arc early as Bailey made her first triple of the game to give HSU its first basket. Farrar followed Bailey with back-to-back three-pointers to extend the team's advantage to 12-6. The two sides traded baskets, but HSU would close the period with a 7-0 that featured a tripe from Olivia Allen to lead 27-20.

The Reddies' offense went cold to start the second period as the Golden Suns went on an 11-0 run to take their second lead of the game, 33-29. Henderson caught fire with a 9-0 run at the end of the frame, capped off with a triple from Farrar seven seconds before the buzzer to retake the lead 43-42 at halftime.

Raby had the hot hand in the third quarter, scoring nine points in the opening five minutes to give HSU an 11-point advantage, 59-48. Arkansas Tech brought the game within seven, but the hot-shooting Reddies built an even larger gap off Bailey's second triple of the game to go up 70-58.

Henderson added to its lead at the start of the fourth period as Templeton and Raby combined to go up 74-58. Martin and Farrar's final baskets at home came with less than two minutes on the clock as Martin made a triple, and seconds later, Farrar connected from deep to extend the Reddies' lead to 82-65.

With 1:15 left in the fourth period, seniors Martin, Bailey, Farrar, Raby and Templeton were given a standing ovation as they were subbed out one final time in the Duke Wells Center as HSU went on to win 85-67
