ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State splits the first two contests in a three-game series against Northwestern Oklahoma State.
The Reddies got the better of the Lady Rangers in the first game, defeating NWOSU 10-5, but Northwestern Oklahoma State would draw level with HSU, winning the second game 2-1.

GAME ONE: HSU 10, NWOSU 5
The Lady Rangers got a lead-off walk to start the game and advanced the runner on first base to second with a sacrifice bunt. The third batter faced by
Katelyn McMahan singled through the right side to put NWOSU up 1-0. Northwestern Oklahoma State added another run in the inning with a single to left field.

The Reddies loaded the bases in the bottom half of the first, and up came McMahan, who hit a bases-clearing double and would be thrown out at third trying to advance on the throw. Henderson tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the second to extend its advantage to 6-2.

A lead-off hit for
Lexi Trejo in the bottom of the fourth set up the team's seventh run as Justin Burch would send Trejo home on a single up the middle.
Abbie Moore hit a two-run homer over the center field wall in the fourth and flew out in the sixth to push HSU ahead 10-5.

NWOSU went long to score its fifth run, hitting a two-run home run with two outs in the top of the fifth. Henderson turned to
Savannah Carrigan in the sixth and seventh innings to close out the game. Carrigan gave up just one hit in two innings of work, facing seven batters.

GAME TWO: NWOSU 2, HSU 1
Meagan Allen went three-up and three-down to start the second game and stranded runners for NWOSU on third and second in the following inning. The Lady Ranger's pitcher kept the Reddies' bats quiet in the first two innings, limiting the team to one hit.

Kaitlyn O'Quinn scored Henderson's first run in the bottom of the third after reaching on a single through the left side. O'Quinn stole second, and Burch doubled down the left field line to score the runner at second. Northwestern Oklahoma State responded immediately with a run in the top of the fourth and added another in the sixth to take the lead 2-1.

The Reddies had runners on second and third with one out in the bottom of the seventh but were unable to advance them, falling to NWOSU in the second game of the day 2-1. Henderson will look to clinch a series win over Northwestern Oklahoma State tomorrow at 12 p.m.
