MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Henderson State falls in the opening contest in a three-game series to Southern Arkansas 5-0 after seven innings.

The Reddies will resume action tomorrow with a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m. to wrap up the series.
 
Brooke Johnson got the nod in the circle for the opening game and finished the contest with four strikeouts and gave up three runs on seven hits after 3.1 innings of work. Meagan Allen came in for relief and finished the last 2.2 innings. 

The closest the Reddies came to scoring was in the top of the fourth after working two walks to put runners on first and second with two outs, but Henderson's third out would come after a strikeout, leaving the runners on the base path. 
 
Southern Arkansas scored two runs on four hits in the bottom half of the fourth to go up 3-0. The Muleriders added a single run in the fifth and sixth innings to extend their advantage to 5-0.
