Henderson Falls in Saturday Twin Bill in Durant

DURANT, Okla. – Henderson State fell in Saturday's doubleheader against Southeastern Oklahoma State in Durant, Oklahoma, 15-7 and 8-7, as the Savage Storm took the weekend series.

Luke Farrar led the Reddies at the plate in the twin bill, going 6-for-10, including his HSU single-game career-high four hits in the first game of the day, and three RBIs. Luke Rice followed Farrar with a 5-for-9 performance at the dish to go with a pair of RBIs.

Henderson St. (15-11, 8-7 GAC) will head to Magnolia, Arkansas, next for a non-conference midweek date with No. 14 Southern Arkansas Tuesday, Mar. 21 at 6 p.m. before returning to Clyde Berry Field Friday, Mar. 24 at 6 p.m. when East Central comes to Arkadelphia.

GAME TWO: Southeastern Oklahoma St. 15, Henderson St. 7
Luke Farrar got things started quick with a lead-off home run to give HSU the 1-0 lead after one inning. A double from Colton Patterson yielded back-to-back groundouts that brought Patterson around for the second run.

With starting pitcher Reese Weaks continuing to keep the Savage Storm scoreless, Logan Cowart's third home run of the weekend extended the Reddies' lead to 3-0. The scoring, however, finally came to Southeastern after a homer fueled a six-run bottom of the fourth as HSU was left trailing, 6-3.

An additional four runs from SE in the fifth gave way to Henderson scoring another three in the sixth thanks to a Luke Rice two-RBI single and a Dillon Thomas sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 10-6, but that would be as close as the score got. After Farrar delivered his second home run of the game, another five runs over the next five innings brought the game to its final tally, 15-7.

GAME THREE: Southeastern Oklahoma St. 8, Henderson State 7
Scoring in the rubber match did not get started until the second inning when Southeastern added a single run to get on the board first. Farrar continued his hot hitting with a double to tie things up at 1-1 before SE opened a 6-1 lead after a five-run bottom of the third.

The Reddies proceeded to score six unanswered runs in the fourth and fifth, including a two-run homer from Charles Hoof and a three-run bomb from Cade Tucker, to take its first lead of the game at 7-6. A home run from the Savage Storm in the home-half of the fifth, however, brought the game back to a deadlock at 7-7.

After Henderson saw a scoreless top of the sixth, both pitchers worked three up, three down over the next four half-innings before Southeastern was left with another opportunity in the bottom of the eighth. A one-out triple was followed by a sacrifice fly to finish the contest, 8-7.
