Henderson Drops Series Finale Against Tech, 26-15

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Henderson State fell in the final game of its series against Arkansas Tech Sunday afternoon, 26-15. There were a total of nine errors in the contest and 29 total hits for the 41-run outing.

Colton Patterson recorded his third multi-hit game in four games, going 3-for-5 at the plate with one RBI. Luke Rice and Charles Hoof each claimed home runs, including Rice's grand slam as part of his five-RBI day.

The Reddies (11-7, 5-4) will head to Cleveland, Mississippi to battle Delta State Tuesday, Mar. 7 at 5 p.m. Last Tuesday, HSU hosted the Statesmen only to use a walk-off home run for the 8-7 victory.

Henderson started the series finale fast, claiming 10 runs in the first inning. After a lead-off walk to Luke Farrar, Greyson Stevens doubled to left field before a fielding error scored Farrar. At that, HSU was off and running. An additional four hits, including Rice's grand slam, and one error scored the remaining nine runs before Tech saw their first at-bat.

Hoof's homer get the two-run second frame started, followed by a single run in the third off a Kaden Argenbright triple to establish the 13-0 lead. At that, the tables turned.

After ATU got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the third, it was the Wonder Boys' turn at the 10-run inning, claiming the double-digit runs in the fourth to bring the score to within one, 13-12. The momentum continued on with six more runs over the next two frames while HSU scored two as Arkansas Tech claimed the 18-15 lead.

A scoreless seventh inning from Henderson gave way to another big outing for the green-and-gold. Arkansas Tech scored four runs on just one hit before a grand slam on two outs ended the game early with the 11-run margin.
