ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State looks to get back on track after suffering its first conference loss on Tuesday when they travel to Russellville, Ark. to battle Arkansas Tech at 6 p.m. on Thursday in the Tucker Coliseum.
REDDIES REPORT
HSU (9-5, 1-1) enters the ATU contest on a three-match skid, having lost its most recent outing to Harding 3-1. The two sides battled early, with the Lady Bisons taking the first set 25-22 before the Reddies tied the match at 1-1, winning the second frame 25-23. HU outlasted Henderson in the final two sets to win 3-1.
Christiane Uzoh continued her hot streak against Harding, posting 16 kills on 30 attacks with just three errors. The Beaumont, Texas native has back-to-back matches with 15 or more kills and eight contests where she has reached double-figures.
Larkin Luke's six total blocks in the HU match brings her count to 45 this season and surpasses her season-high from last year (44).
Madison Hatt ranks inside the top ten in assists in the league, averaging 5.51 per set, and leads the team with 259. Against Harding, Hatt's 21 assists was the seventh time this season the setter has reached 20 in a match. Backing the junior as the quarterback of the offense is
Nathalie Van, who has 186 assists this season. Through the first 14 matches, Van has passed her totals from last year, when she finished with 100 assists.
The Reddies trail the Golden Suns in the all-time matchup 25-35 heading into the 60
th meeting. Last year, Henderson and Arkansas Tech split the series, with the two sides winning their respective home matches. Current Reddies Uzoh and Hatt had 30 kills and 56 assists, respectively, over the two matches.
SCOUTING ARKANSAS TECH
Like the Reddies, the Golden Suns (1-10, 1-1) have split their first two conference matches, with a 3-0 win over Arkansas-Monticello and, most recently, a 3-1 defeat to Southern Arkansas. ATU trailed 2-0 against the Muleriders and would win the third set 25-20 before falling in the fourth, 25-23.
In its most recent match, the Arkansas Tech attack was led by sophomore outside hitter Kaitlyn Neal, who tallied 13 kills on a .219 attack average. Neal leads the Golden offense with 75 kills, averaging 2.14 per set. Providing support to the ATU hitters is Gracie Palmer, who has a team-high 199 assists and is averaging 5.85 per set, which is eighth-best in the GAC.
