ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State hits the road on Thursday and heads to Monticello to face the Blossoms of Arkansas-Monticello in the Steelman Fieldhouse on Sept. 28 at 4 p.m.

Henderson State (11-5, 3-1) logged its third conference win on Tuesday night, taking down Southern Arkansas in straight sets. The two sides went back and forth in the opening two frames, but it would be the Reddies who went ahead 2-0 in the match. HSU cruised to a 25-15 win in the final set to take the match.
Violeta Mendoza Quintana and
Madison Hatt each logged a double-double in the win over the Muleriders, as Mendoza Quintana had 10 kills and 14 digs, while Hatt totaled 18 assists and 11 digs. The pair both have seven double-doubles on the year through 16 matches.
Trinity Sharp continues to average a league-best 4.67 digs per set, as HSU leads the conference in digs with 17.61 a frame. In addition, HSU leads the league in total number of digs with 1004, as Sharp and Mendoza Quintana have a team-high 243 and 194, respectively. In the SAU match, the Reddies out receipted the Muleriders 61-to-50, led by Sharp with 14 in three sets.
Last season, Henderson State and Arkansas-Monticello split the regular season matches as UAM won the first meeting 3-0 in the Duke Wells Center, and HSU won the second time 3-0 from inside the Steelman Fieldhouse. The Reddies are ahead in the series 22-14 and have found success in Monticello with five victories in their last six visits.
SCOUTING ARKANSAS-MONTICELLO
The Blossoms are still searching for their first win of the season after Harding defeated UAM last time out in straight sets as the Blossoms fell to 0-15 on the year.
Sophomore outside hitter Jasmine Welton leads the UAM attack with 110 kills and is averaging 2.39 kills per set. Backing the Tampa, Fla. native on offense are middle blockers Abrielle Jordan and Jalen Scroggins, who have 64 and 58 kills, respectively. The Blossoms are hitting .048 as a team and averaging 8.4 kills a set.
Stasha Adams has commanded the back row this season for UAM with a team-high 177 digs and is averaging 3.69 per set, while on the front row, Jordan leads the team with 30 total blocks. Most recently, Adams had 12 digs against Harding, while Jordan posted two blocks.
