Reddies Head to Shawnee to Face Oklahoma Baptist

COVERAGE LINKS I GAME NOTES

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State looks to stretch its win streak to five when they head to the Noble Complex on Thursday, Feb. 1 to take on Oklahoma Baptist at 5:30 p.m.

REDDIES REPORT
Henderson State (12-6, 8-4) has been rolling the last two weeks as they picked up a fourth consecutive win after defeating Southern Arkansas at home 81-60 most recently. The Reddies have won six of their previous seven games, which sees them sit fourth in the conference standings.

Jadah Pickens had a big week for the red-and-gray, recording 43 points on 62.5 percent shooting across the two games, including a team-high 16 points in the win over SAU. The senior guard came into the week averaging 3.4 points per game and is now seeing 5.7 points per contest after back-to-back double-digit games. Ashley Farrar remains HSU's top scorer with 17.7 points, followed by Tori Gittens with 10.9.

The Reddies showed why they are one of the best teams at the free-throw line in the GAC against SAU as the team went 15-of-15 at the charity stripe. The last time HSU was perfect at the free-throw line on ten or more attempts was in 2000 when the red-and-gray went 19-for-19 against Ouachita Baptist. Henderson is second in the GAC in free-throw percentage and 17th nationally, shooting 77.3 percent, led by Olivia Allen (32-35) and Farrar (92-113).

HSU heads into the 16th meeting against Oklahoma Baptist on a two-game win streak over the Bison and eyes a third consecutive win on Thursday. However, the Nobel Complex has been a challenging place for the Reddies to play recently, as the team is looking for its first win in Shawnee since 2020. HSU leads the series 11-4 and is 8-2 in the last ten games.

Henderson State dominated the Bison the first time around with a 75-54 win inside the Duke Wells Center. Farrar and Brynlee Huggins led the scorers with 24 and 10 points, respectively, while Makenna Winans grabbed seven rebounds. Farrar's 4-of-5 outing at three-point line helped the Reddies to a season-high 14 triples on 41.2 percent shooting in the win.

SCOUTING OKLAHOMA BAPTIST
Slow starts have troubled the Bison in their last two games. The team has been outscored 45-18 in the first period, which resulted in defeats to No. 5 Southern Nazarene and Southwestern Oklahoma State last week. Oklahoma Baptist is tied for seventh in the league standings with Ouachita Baptist at 5-7 and is 8-10 overall.

Jaedyn Getman led the scoring for the Bison over the two games with 41 points on 45.4 percent shooting. The sophomore forward is the GAC's second-highest scorer with 18.6 points per game and ranks ninth in rebounding with 6.6 boards per contest. Getman has tallied double-digit points in her last seven games and has reached 20 points four times during this stretch. The Stratford, Okla. native helps lead a Bison team averaging 60.5 points per game and shooting 39.4 percent.

Emerging as a strong presence at the glass for the OBU the last few weeks is forward Jill Leslie. The junior leads the team with 6.9 rebounds per game after combining for 16 boards against SNU and SWOSU. Leslie is also the Bison's fourth-highest scorer, averaging 6.9 points per game on a 39.4 percent shooting mark.
