Reddie Women Roll Past the Bison at Home 74-54

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State dominates all four periods in its 20-point victory over Oklahoma Baptist, 74-54, to improve to 7-5 overall and 3-3 in GAC play.

HSU put together a complete performance in its win, shooting 42.6 percent from the field and 42.4 percent from beyond the arc, and outrebounded the Bison 31-24. Ashley Farrar led the scoring with 24 points and finished shooting 6-of-7 from the floor and 4-of-5 from deep and added a team-high six assists to her totals. Natalie Cardenas and Brynlee Huggins recorded 14 and 10 points, respectively, and both finished with three triples each.

The Reddies attacked from the perimeter early and often, as Cardenas knocked down two triples in the first two minutes to push HSU in front 8-2. A four-minute scoring drought by both sides was cut by a three-pointer by Olivia Allen, followed by the team's fourth trey of the period from Jadah Pickens to give Henderson a 14-8 edge at the end of the first period.

In the second quarter, HSU carried over its hot shooting, opening the stanza with a 10-2 run, featuring three-pointers by Farrar and Tori Gittens to stretch the team's advantage to 24-10. The Bison replied with a 6-0 burst, but the Reddies kept in front with four points by Makenna Winans to re-establish Henderson's double-digit lead 30-16. Farrar drained her second three-pointer of the period to close the half with a 37-20 lead over the Bison. Farrar led the scoring at the break with 12 points while HSU shot 46.4 percent from the field and 38.9 percent from beyond the arc on 18 attempts.

Farrar opened the scoring in the second half, making her third three-pointer of the contest before converting two shots at the free-throw line to extend the Reddies' lead to 42-24. Huggins joined in on the scoring, making back-to-back triples as part of an 8-0 burst to give Henderson State its largest advantage of the game, 50-25. Oklahoma Baptist cut the Reddies edge to 19 after a 5-0 run, but a Cardenas three-pointer and Farrar layup would make it a 24-point game again. The Bison closed out the final minute and a half on a 4-0 run, as HSU led 56-36 through three quarters.

Oklahoma Baptist opened the fourth period with a triple, but the Reddies quickly replied with a three-pointer from Farrar, followed by Sam Basson for her first points of the game.
