RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - The Great American Conference has named Katilyn Steffes its Offensive Player of the Week after she helped lead the Reddies to victories over in-state rivals Ouachita Baptist and Arkansas-Monticello last week.
The junior from Rochester, Minnesota, recorded 28 kills against the Tigers: the highest single-match total of any player in the GAC this season. She also contributed 12 digs, four blocks (including one solo), and four service aces in her first Battle of the Ravine. Steffes' contributions proved to be vital in a successful three-set comeback that clinched a 3-2 win for the Reddies.
Later in the week, Steffes added 10 more kills to her weekly total during a sweep of Arkansas-Monticello. She complemented her offensive attacks with six digs, a solo block, and two service aces.
This is Steffes' first weekly award from the Great American Conference.
Later this week, Steffes and her teammates will travel to Oklahoma for the first time this season to take on Southern Nazarene and Oklahoma Baptist. HSU's match with the Crimson Storm is scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. start on Thursday, October 10, at SNU's Sawyer Center in Bethany, Oklahoma.
