Reddies Score 114 in Home Opener Win Versus Champion Christian

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Reddies basketball back at home for the first time in the 2024-25 season scores 114 versus the Champion Christian Tigers, winning 114-101.
 
Coach Jimmy Elgas and his squad dominated from start to finish led by Xavier Owens 30 points and 13 rebounds. Owens double-double is the first of the season for the Reddies. The Reddies had 11 different scorers including four of those being double-digit scorers.
 
Early in the game the Reddies were led by their rebounding, including two offensive rebounds leading to baskets in the early minutes of the half.  The Reddies won the rebounding battle 44-32. The Reddies posted their highest assist game of the season with 18.  
 
At the half the Reddies led 57-51 after a Jameel Wesley II put back and-1 with just seconds remaining in the half.
 
In the first half the Tigers shot 50 percent from deep compared to the Reddies 29 percent. In the second half the Reddies shot 44 percent and held the Tigers to just 38 percent from deep.
 
The second half was highlighted by two key moments. A Wesley II fastbreak dunk brought the energy for the Reddies early and later in the half an offensive rebound by Matthew Mayes led to an Owens dunk, which extended the Reddies lead to 16.
 
A late surge by the Tigers brought the Reddie lead to just eight after a timeout by Champion Christian. Following the timeout the Reddies scored seven unanswered to secure the win.

Deazhon Perkins: 19 pts and 58% FG.

The Reddies return to action versus Kansas Christian Friday, November 22 at 7 p.m. in the Duke Wells Center.
