2024 GREAT AMERICAN CONFERENCE VOLLEYBALL AWARDS AND ALL-GAC HONORS
HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - Katilyn Steffes and Kaylon Partain were both named all-conference honorees at the 2024 GAC Volleyball Awards Banquet in Hot Springs on Wednesday. Steffes received a Second Team All-GAC selection and the GAC Newcomer of the Year Award, while Partain was chosen as an All-GAC Honorable Mention.
In her first year in the Great American Conference, Steffes is top five in the league in both total kills (354) and kills per set (3.44). The Rochester, Minnesota, native recorded 28 kills in Henderson State's October 1 victory over Ouachita Baptist. It was the second-most kills by a GAC player in a single match this year. Steffes has also recorded 319 digs, 46 blocks, and 24 service aces at outside hitter.
Partain finished the regular season in second place on the GAC leaderboards for both total digs (599) and digs per set (5.82). Her digs per set average is also ranked sixth in the nation. The Atlanta, Texas, native leads the Reddies with 31 service aces and is third on the team with 95 assists.
Savannah Coats was one of only eight volleyball players in the conference to be named a GAC Elite Scholar Athlete.
HSU also had six athletes listed as a part of the GAC Academic Honor Roll, including Carson Edwards, Madison Hatt, Emma Parsons, Emily Bustillos, Taylor Fisher, and Skye Johns.
No. 8 Henderson State will take on No. 1 Southwestern Oklahoma State in a GAC Volleyball Championships quarterfinal on Thursday, November 21. First serve is slated for 3:00 p.m. at Bank OZK Arena in Hot Springs.
