Reddies Set to Tip Off Versus Kansas Christian

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State Men's Basketball is back in action tomorrow looking to improve to 3-1 to start the season for the first time since 2019-20.
 
The Reddies return to the Duke Wells Center after a week-long break versus Kansas Christian tomorrow at 7 p.m.
 
In their last outing the Reddies scored a season high 114 points versus Champion Christian. The Reddies had four players score double digits and five more players score five or more points. Led by transfer Xavier Owens the Reddies dominated the glass with 44 rebounds to the Tigers 32. Owens finished with 30 points and 13 rebounds against the Tigers. The Reddies shot 57 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from behind the arc. Alongside Owens, transfer Deazhon Perkins scored 15 points on 7-12 shooting including two late layups to secure the win for the Reddies.
 
Kansas Christian enters the game with a 1-4 record following a loss to Newman on Saturday. The Falcons are led by James Lewis, averaging 18 ppg and Isaac Lane, averaging 14.5 ppg and 8 rpg. Lane has had multiple double digit rebounds games this season, including a 12 rebound games versus Randall. Last season the Falcons appeared in the NCCAA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship, losing to Bob Jones 84-50. Head Coach Jim Poteet is entering his 7th season with the Falcons with a record of 116-64 and a NCCAA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship victory in 2023.
 
Against Champion Christian the Reddies forced 15 turnovers that led to fastbreak points. The Reddies scored 29 fastbreak points with 19 of those coming off turnovers. The Reddies dominated inside with 74 points in the paint and 15 offensive rebounds leading to 21 second chance points. The Reddies recorded a season high in assists, rebounds, and three-pointers made versus the Tigers.

Deazhon Perkins is averaging 15 ppg going into tomorrow's contest while also posting six steals through three games.
 
Xavier Owens is coming off of a 30 point and 13 rebound night versus Champion Christian, both season highs.
 
The Reddies are set for tip off tomorrow at 7 p.m. versus Kansas Christian for their fourth game of the season.
