ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Reddies halftime lead not enough to beat Christian Brothers, lose 81-77.
Freshman
Rondae Hill scored 22 points, but the Reddies offense struggled. Hill shot 9-15 from the field and 3-5 from deep and was one of two Reddies to make a three.
The Reddies outrebounded the Buccaneers and had six more steals but struggled from the field. The Reddies capitalized on turnovers outscoring the Buccaneers by 12 on the fast break and 15 on points off turnovers.
Early in the first half the Reddies capitalized in the open court with a layup and dunk from
Matthew Mayes. Before the end of the half
Tim McDonald was fouled on an offensive rebound and connected on both free throws.
The second half was jump started by a quick turnover and jumper by Hill. A Mayes steal led to a Hill layup and a quick timeout by Christian Brothers. The Reddies took a 10-point lead with a steal by
Nehikhare Igiehon and dunk from an assist by Hill. The Buccaneers called another quick timeout.
Following the timeout the Reddies struggled to connect on their attempts and the Buccaneers rallied back. The Reddies rallied back after being down nine midway through the second half to cut the Buccaneers lead to two with nine seconds to go.
The Reddies open conference play on Thursday versus Southeastern in Durant, Okla. at 7:30 p.m.
